Anglesey
Sea Zoo is the largest marine aquarium in Wales and is situated
by the shores of the beautiful Menai Strait, on the Isle of Anglesey
in north Wales.
The Sea Zoo
was founded in 1983 on the site of an oyster hatchery, and provides
underwater habitats for over 50 species of aquatic creatures,
including lobsters, hermit crabs and huge conger eels. As well
as a collection of sealife from around the coast of the Isle of
Anglesey, the zoo is home to tropical fish such as piranhas, seahorses
and clownfish. 
Displays include a lobster hatchery, seahorse nursery (the zoo
is involved in a seahorse breeding programme), fish forest (which
has an underwater camera), shark pool, and shipwreck (the coastal
waters around Anglesey are renowned for their numerous shipwrecks).
One of the
latest features enables visitors to listen to the sounds of haddock
and seals in the wild. You can also go 'pearl fishing', and have
your pearl set in gold or silver jewellery. The zoo has other
surrounding attractions: you can rent a beach hut by the sea or
play pirate-themed crazy golf; and there is an adventure playground
and radio-controlled model boats for children. There is also a
bistro, and a gift shop that sells homemade fudge and sea salt.
