County Antrim map
Causeway Coast,
County Antrim

Causeway Coast Photo The Antrim Coast Road (from Larne to Portrush) weaves along Northern Ireland's stunningly scenic Causeway Coast, a beautiful seascape with miles of rugged cliffs, dramatic headlands, sheltered bays, sandy beaches, fishing villages, and ancient ruins.

Beautiful Murlough Bay lies just west of Northern Ireland's tallest cliff face at Fair Head. Inland on the Ballycastle/Cushendall road is Ballypatrick Forest, which has fantastic views of the coast, and is situated near toGiant's Causeway Photo the mysterious 'Vanishing Lake' at Loughareema. Further west, past the attractive coastal town of Ballycastle, the road reaches Ballintoy, where a coastal path leads to the famous Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge that stretches over a 80ft chasm.

The World Heritage Site of the Giant's Causeway, one of Ireland's most famous landmarks, is situated near the seaside village of Portballintrae; nearby is Old Bushmills Distillery, the oldest licensed whisky distillery in the world. West of the Causeway, perched dramatically on an eroding cliff-top, are the romantic ruins of Dunluce Castle. The road then reaches the lively resort of Portrush, which has excellent beaches and a famous golf course. A quieter seaside town is nearby Portstewart, located further west along the coast in Derry.
