Wales location map
Ceredigion,
Mid-Wales, UK

Ceredigion Photo Ceredigion stretches from Pembrokeshire in the south to southern Snowdonia in the north. Sparsely populated with a strong Welsh culture and vast tracts of beautiful countryside, the area has a peace and tranquillity that is captivating for those who venture off the beaten track.

Much of the southern coast of Cardigan Bay is a protected heritage area with a diversity of marine wildlife. Situated on the coast is the historic market town of Cardigan, the university town of Aberystwyth,Aberystwyth Photo and the picturesque ports of Aberaeron and New Quay. There are many pretty beaches, especially around the charming village of Llangranog.

Inland are the lakes, forests and river valleys of the Cambrian Mountains. The green Teifi Valley is home to the 12th century ruins of Strata Florida Abbey and romantic Cilgerran Castle, while further north are the more rugged gorges of the Rheidol Valley. Outside the village of Cilgerran, the Welsh Wildlife Centre and Teifi Marshes Nature Reserve is a habitat for many species of bird and wildlife, with trails running through the gorge and surrounding meadows and woodland. East of Aberystwyth, Nant yr Arian forest is home to the Red Kite, and has stunning waymarked walking paths and mountain biking routes.
