The City of Westminster is located in the very centre of London
and is home to the British government as well as many famous tourist
attractions more associated with London itself.
The most popular
attractions in the City of Westminster are the National Gallery
and Westminster Abbey. The National Gallery is home to one of
the greatest collections of European paintings in the world. Famous
paintings at the venue include ‘Sunflowers’ by Vincent
Van Gough and ‘The Virgin of the Rocks’ by Leonardo
da Vinci. Westminster Abbey was founded by Edward the Confessor
in 1045 and was concentrated on 28th December 1065.
Leicester
Square, Westminster is famous for its seven cinemas, and the square
itself is one of the most popular and liveliest areas of its kind.
Similar to Hollywood to a certain degree, celebrity handprints
and plaques on display include those from Sir Richard Attenborough,
Pierce Brosnan and Sir Ian McKellen. Around 95% of tourists who
visit London pass through the City of Westminster. This represents
28.5 million people.
