The
diversity of England is what makes it such a fascinating and memorable
place to visit. From the calm of its sweeping countryside, to
the vibrancy of its cultured towns and cities, England has it
all.
Ancient castles,
abbeys and monuments of the country's rich history can be found
everywhere. The cities of York, Winchester, Canterbury, Durham,
Lincoln and Salisbury all boast magnificent cathedrals, while
the majestic university towns of Oxford and Cambridge, with their
college spires, winding streets and
peaceful canals, are famous for their elegant charm.
England's
countryside is immensely varied, switching from the gentle rolling
hills and leafy glades of the Cotswolds and Chilterns to the wild
romantic moorland of Dartmoor, Exmoor and Cornwall's Bodmin Moor.
England's highest mountain, Scafell Pike, can be found in the
beautiful Cumbrian Lake District, while the Yorkshire Dales, the
Peak District in Derbyshire, and the wetlands and ancient woodlands
of the Norfolk and Suffolk Broads are also ideal locations for
taking in the wonders of England's natural landscapes whilst London,
England's capital and Europe's largest city, is huge, an ethnically
diverse metropolis with a treasure house of culture that is unmatched
by any of England's other cities.
