Land’s End can be found at the very southwest tip of mainland
Britain. It is 874 miles from John O’Groats – the
most northerly point in Scotland.
This UK landmark
is most famous for being the start and finish point for ‘trekking
the UK’. Cyclists, celebrities and the general public regularly
travel from Land’s End to John O’Groats, often on
behalf of their own charitable cause. One of the most popular
tourist attractions of the area is to have your photo taken at
the signpost, indicating that you are 28 miles
away from the Isles of Scilly and 3147 miles away from New York.
Land’s End is
surrounded by spectacular views westward over the Atlantic Ocean
and is a popular family tourist destination. There are many Cornish
attractions in the area including the pasty shop, the Roskilly
Ice Cream Parlour and the Cornish Sweet Manufactory. The sea is
clean and clear, and the local area regularly receives awards
for its quality of beaches and desire to conserve. Although there
are thousands of visitors to the area every year, its rugged backdrop
retains an unaffected feel.
