Lough Neagh Discovery Centre Photo The Lough Neagh Discovery Centre is located in a beautiful setting on the southern shores of Lough Neagh, the UK's largest lake, in County Armagh.

The award-winning centre opened in 1993, and lies on Oxford Island, a small peninsula that juts out from the northern shores of Armagh. It has a range of excellent audiovisual presentations, interactive games, and exhibitions relating to the history, culture and wildlife of the area. The centre also hosts environmental events such as bird watching Kinnego Bay Photo and nature walks which follow trails leading through the surrounding woodlands and wetlands of the 270-acre Oxford Island National Nature Reserve.

The reserve is a haven for birdlife, as well as wildlife and plants, and attracts many ornithologists. There are bird-watching hides with dramatic views over the lough, from where waterfowl and other species of birds can be observed in their natural habitats. The discovery centre also contains a café and a gift shop. There are facilities for watersports and boat trips along the secluded bays of the lough's shores from the marina at nearby Kinnego Bay, which lies just to the east.
